What is this blog about? It’s about a challenge I am undertaking to eat only “Real Foods” inspired by a blog I stumbled across entitled “100 Days of Real Food”. At first I thought “Yeah, right, who does that?” And then I thought “It could be me…..”
I am 28, I have been married for six years and I am a SAHM to three children (twins ages 4 and a 7 month old). I am embarassed to say I rely HEAVILY on processed foods. I never grew up eating them, my mom didn’t really stock our house with that stuff, and when I became an adult I went hog-wild on the stuff. Processed foods are cheaper, easier, and, I think, taste better (hey, I’m just keeping it real). But something has to change in my and my family’s eating habits.
I am a whopping 173lbs overweight. I am literally two people walking around in one body, one very large body. I don’t want my kids learning my bad behaviors. I want to have energy to keep up with them. I don’t want to be the “fat mommy”. I am also concerned with the things that my family is consuming. The harmful ingredients that we are shovelling into our faces by the truckload. I feel like if I can do this for 10 days, this might just jumpstart a whole new revolution in the way we eat and see food.
So here it is, I will be chronicling my preparation for this challenge, what I am and am not looking forward to, how I feel about it, pitfalls along the way and anything else that strikes my fancy. I hope you enjoy, I hope you learn something, I hope you get inspired.
